July 31, 2008
Effective 7-31-08, Executive Order S-09-08 was signed and issued, which, in the absence of a Budget,  prohibits overtime; places a freeze on new hiring, transfers and promotions (except in cases where a formal offer has been made and accepted prior to July 31, 2008); suspends the use of all personal services contracts; and terminates the services of retired annuitants, permanent intermittent employees, seasonal employees, temporary help workers, and student assistants.  The Director's letter to all employees regarding the freeze is located at: http://www.documents.dgs.ca.gov/ohr/HIRING FREEZE/Executive Order letter.doc or http://www.dpa.ca.gov/news/news/2008/20080731-01.htm

The DGS has met is obligation to post-and-bid 35 positions (14 of 14 AGPA positions, 3 of 3 OA(T) positions, 15 of 15 SSA positions and 3 of 3 Pers. Specialist positions)!

The DGS has met its obligation to post-and-bid 14 of 14 AGPA positions, 3 of 3 OA(T) positions, and 15 of 15 SSA positions.  DGS must still post-and-bid 2 Personnel Specialist positions.

The Office of State Publishing staff reduction was completed.

The Department of General Services (DGS), Office of State Publishing announced immediate reduction of approximately 120 positions to align current workload projections to required resources.

December 31, 2004
